In rememberance

Gary and Matthew created this very large poppy wreath which was ordered by Lodge Hill Garage. The full size replica Spitfire plane stands proud above the forecourt of the garage as a permanent memorial to the Second World War female pilots of The Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA).

Remembrance Day Wreath

The ATA pilots flew Spitfires and others planes from factories in cities like Southampton and Coventry to their operational airbases. Many of the 166 women lost their lives during these missions including Amy Johnson, the pioneering aviator who was the first women to fly from Britain to Australia solo.

A campaign started by the owner of Lodge Hill Garage is underway to raise £15.000 for a national monument to commemorate the ATA girls.
