Threads of Silk and Gold
An exciting colaboration with the Ashmolean Bouquet
We are very excited to announce a colaboration with The Ashmolean Museum for their forthcoming exhibition, Threads of Silk and Gold, ornamental textiles from meiji Japan which runs from 9th November 2012 to 27th January 2013.
While it turns cold outside, the Ashmoleans autumn-winter exhibition celebrates sumptuous interiors. Many of us are aware of the beauty of the traditional Japanese kimono; Threads of Silk and Gold introduces the less well known but equally spectacular ornamental textiles that were made for western homes during Japans Meiji era (18681912). This was the famous period of Japonisme, which saw the European Impressionist painters exploring themes and styles taken from Japanese art, and Victorian rooms filled with Japanese decorative arts and crafts.
We have 2 tickets to win for the exhibition Threads of Silk and Gold, Ornamental Textiles from Meiji Japan, please sign up for fabulous friends via the website and a lucky winner will be picked at random. The Museum will also be running a competition to win 2 of these amazing bouquets - details to follow.
