Wedding highlights
Agnes and Mike’s wedding was everything a June celebration at the Bodleian should be — romantic, elegant and beautifully considered, with a softness that never felt overly formal.
Their palette was classic white and green, but the brief was to keep everything natural, airy and a little whimsical. In Convocation House, we created a spectacular full-height floral arch around the Wren doors. Despite its scale, the design remained light and organic, framing the entrance with flowers and foliage rather than competing with the extraordinary architecture.
Agnes wore a timeless white gown with delicate lace detailing at the sleeves and veil. Her bouquet was intentionally smaller and intricate, with the softest touches of blush pink woven through white flowers. Tiny roses, sweet peas and lily of the valley gave it a beautifully detailed, almost gathered-from-the-garden quality that suited her perfectly.
For the reception in the Divinity School, we wanted to bring a sense of the outside in. Real trees were positioned between the dining tables, creating height and movement through the room while still allowing guests to see and talk easily across the tables. Against the carved stonework and soaring ceiling of the Divinity School, the effect was wonderfully romantic — abundant without feeling heavy.
Agnes and Mike were a complete pleasure to work with. Calm, decisive and clear about what they loved, but always receptive to ideas, they gave us the freedom to develop the details while staying true to the understated romance they wanted for their day. The result felt completely natural to them — timeless, fresh and quietly beautiful.
