Wedding highlights

From our very first meeting with Helen, one thing was wonderfully clear: pink was never going to be a supporting act. She loves every shade of it, particularly beautifully scented roses, and we built the flowers around that from the very beginning — glamorous, abundant and completely unapologetic.

Helen and Tom’s day began in Convocation House, where their family vicar had travelled especially to give the blessing. We created a light, modern floral arch which framed the ceremony without overwhelming the extraordinary architecture or obscuring the view for their guests. Helen’s bouquet was deliberately generous but compact, filled with her favourite roses while allowing the lace detailing of her fitted ceremony dress to take centre stage.

Drinks followed in the Bodleian quad and Sheldonian Theatre, with floral vignettes throughout — including their telephone guest book dressed with flowers and suspended florals above the seating areas.

Then came the Divinity School. Full-length installations of flowers floated above the dining tables, while below, vases overflowing with coordinating blooms were layered with candles and flickering tealights. It was glamorous, immersive and joyful. Helen later told us she cried when she walked into the room because it was more than she had ever imagined — which may be one of our favourite reactions to a room we have ever created.

And because Helen and Tom were never going to finish quietly, everyone returned to the Sheldonian for a proper party. Above the bar we created a playful installation of hanging mirror balls and foliage, changing the mood completely for the final part of the night.

Helen and Tom were an absolute delight to work with. Their enthusiasm was infectious and our conversations quickly extended far beyond flowers as we happily helped with ideas and recommendations for the rest of their day. By the time the wedding arrived they felt much more like friends than clients — and we genuinely miss those chats.
